Built for the Canadian curriculum · Grades 1 to 10
We teach your province’s exact curriculum. Not a generic syllabus.
Every province sets its own curriculum and its own exams. Our tutors plan from the same ministry documents your child’s school uses, from Ontario’s EQAO to Alberta’s PATs to BC’s FSA. What we teach on Tuesday matches what their teacher covers on Wednesday.
Your province, your syllabus
Find your province. See exactly what your child learns.
Tap your province on the map. You’ll see the official curriculum we align to, the provincial exams your child will face, and how VA Classes prepares them for each one.
Beyond the report card
We coach for Canada’s real contests too, from Gauss to Beaver.
Provincial exams are the floor. For students who want more, we fold contest preparation into the annual plan: real past papers, timed mocks, and the specific problem styles each contest uses.
Math contests
Coding & robotics
Science
English
Most school-run contests (CEMC, Mathematica, CNML) are registered through your child’s school; others, like Math Kangaroo and the Spelling Bee, take direct parent registration. We tell you which applies and handle the preparation either way. This list stays current: Caribou Contests, long a household name, ended operations in August 2025, so you won’t find it here.
Compare the syllabus
Most tutoring teaches a syllabus. We teach yours.
Put any generic tutoring program next to your child’s actual school year and the gaps show up fast. Here’s the difference, side by side.
A typical tutoring app
One international syllabus for every student, whichever country or province they live in.
Its own course names. “We’re doing Spatial Sense this month” means nothing to the tutor.
Generic worksheets. No EQAO, PAT or FSA format, timing or no-calculator sections.
A fixed course order that drifts away from what the class is actually doing.
Nothing changes. The same course continues, gaps and all.
VA Classes
Your province’s official ministry curriculum, the same documents your child’s school plans from.
The same strand names their teacher uses: Number, Algebra, Spatial Sense in Ontario, outcomes in Alberta, competencies in BC.
Full mock exams in the real format and timing, including no-calculator sections where the real exam has them.
A month-by-month annual plan matched to your province’s school year, adjusted to your child’s classroom pace.
Free diagnostic + a bridging plan between the old and new curriculum, so nothing is missed and nothing is repeated.
Straight from the source
Planned from the same ministry documents your child’s school uses
Not a summary of them. Not “inspired by” them. Every annual plan starts from the official curriculum your province publishes:
Why it matters
Why parents call us the curriculum specialists
Anyone can teach math. We teach your province’s math, with the same strands, the same units, and the same exams your child’s school follows.
Ministry-aligned annual plans
Every student gets a month-by-month plan built from their province’s official curriculum documents, so tutoring reinforces the classroom instead of running parallel to it. Ask us for your child’s grade plan. It’s free.
Real provincial exam prep
EQAO in Ontario. PATs in Alberta. FSA and the Grade 10 assessments in BC. In exam years, the final months of the plan are full mock exams in the real format and timing, then targeted revision based on the results.
Built for families who move
New to Canada, or switching provinces? A free diagnostic maps your child against the new curriculum, and a bridging plan closes the gaps quietly, before they show up on a report card.
